What you are actually getting
A regulated qualification is one that sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework and is awarded by an organisation recognised by Ofqual. It has a defined level, size and set of assessment requirements, so an employer anywhere in the country knows what it represents.
That is the difference between a qualification and CPD. CPD - including our own masterclasses - develops your practice and gives you evidence of professional development. A regulated qualification is formally assessed against published criteria, sampled through quality assurance and certificated by the awarding organisation. Neither replaces the other: most people use CPD to stay current and a qualification to formalise a role.
Awarding organisation. We deliver as an approved centre for Focus Awards. They set the qualification, approve us to deliver it, monitor our quality and issue your certificate.
Assessment. You complete tasks mapped to the qualification units. Your tutor assesses them against the criteria and gives feedback, and you can resubmit where something has not yet been met.
Internal quality assurance. A separate quality assurer samples assessment decisions to make sure standards are consistent - a requirement of every regulated qualification, and the reason certification takes a little longer than a same-day online course.
Online delivery and support. Learning, submission and feedback all happen online, at a pace that fits around work, with a named tutor or assessor and live workshops where the qualification includes them.
